Revolutionizing Implantology with Computer-Guided Techniques

At the forefront of modern dentistry, computer-guided implant techniques have transformed how dental implants are planned and executed. These advanced technologies provide unparalleled accuracy and efficiency by utilizing:

Advanced Technologies in Modern Dentistry

Digital Scanning Technology (Scanner)

It uses an intraoral scanner (IOS), which is a pen-like camera equipped with internal light and connected to a computer screen, through which many images of the teeth and implants are taken with accuracy that matches traditional impressions in the mouth, which use silicone rubber material in its various types via a plastic or metal carrier proportional to the size of the jaw for each patient.

By using the scanner, we obtain several advantages:

  • 1- The scanner size is smaller than the traditional impression material carrier
  • 2- The measurement time is faster than traditional impressions
  • Greater comfort and higher accuracy than traditional impressions

3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography Technology

3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is considered the cornerstone of digital dentistry as it provides an accurate image in three dimensions: sagittal, frontal, and horizontal, by assembling radiographic section images on top of each other in a three-dimensional manner through a special program, which enables us to measure the real dimensions of the bone in the three directions and facilitates the process of selecting the appropriate size for implants. CT images also help in accurate diagnosis operations for lesions inside the bone by comparing the radiographic densities of different sections and comparing them with their normal values. Thus, CT images surpass two-dimensional panoramic images that show only two dimensions of the rays and the third dimension, which is bone thickness, is absent, not to mention the expansion factor that changes the real dimensions of objects on the rays, as well as the overlap of radiographic elements on top of each other, which complicates the diagnosis process.

Virtual Planning for Implants and Patient's Smile

Implants and the restorations on them are designed along with the patient's new smile digitally through professional programs dedicated to that, so that it fits the patient's condition and aesthetic standards and enables them to participate in the planning process and express their opinion on the treatment plan, so that they become part of the final decision-making process.

Surgical Guide Technology (Surgical Guide)

Customized surgical guides are made for each case using dedicated computer programs and printed through a 3D printer to implement virtual plans with extreme precision and high comfort for the patient.

These guides help speed up treatment time, reduce errors, ensure work quality, and reduce complications.

For more information about the surgical guide, please refer to the services page (Digital Implantology).

Ultrasonic Technology (Surgical Piezo)

In this technique, devices that work with ultrasonic waves are used for surgical interventions on hard tissues such as bone and teeth. The accuracy is higher and the surgical cutting is safer as it is highly cooled and slower from a practical standpoint. It also protects soft tissues from injury, such as adjacent nerves and membranes lining the maxillary sinuses.

Surgical Laser Technology

In this technique, soft laser (diode laser) is used for surgical interventions on soft tissues such as gums and mucous membranes in the mouth. It is usually painless and sometimes with simple local anesthesia and is used to cut or shape the gums in a way that suits the design of the patient's new smile.

The Power of CAD-CAM Systems and Digitally Guided Surgery

CAD-CAM (Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing) systems and digitally guided surgery are among the most prominent innovations in dental procedures. This technology facilitates complex operations, making them more precise and efficient.
